Some trivia about it:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A whole verse was cut out of the finished recording. Surprisingly, it still works.<\/li>\n<li>What you hear: vocals, electric guitar, keyboard, ukulele.<\/li>\n<li>The alarm part is set to the verse chords of <a title=\"What's the Baby Using?\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jutze.com\/?p=233\">What&#8217;s the Baby Using<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Harold likes to wear a cowboy hat.<\/li>\n<li>Dickensack, AL is a fictitious town and the original home of dieholzmannjungs.<\/li>\n<li>The Patrick in the song was heavily inspired by a Patrick I know.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;m unhappy with the &#8220;doesn&#8217;t wait for the smoke to clear&#8221; line. It implies that the firefighter is reckless and that the story is like these unreal Hollywood action sequences.<\/li>\n<li>Yes, the title was inspired by <a title=\"Richard Shindell\" href=\"http:\/\/www.richardshindell.com\" target=\"_blank\">Richard Shindell<\/a>. No, I&#8217;m not worthy.<\/li>\n<li>The lines with the fire\/higher rhyme got mixed up. I have no idea why.<\/li>\n<li>For the most parts &#8220;Reunion Street&#8221; was recorded last Saturday.<\/li>\n<li>The initial idea for the story was born while I was jogging by the local fire station and the adjacent traffic lights turned all red due to an actual alarm.<\/li>\n<li>Singing about dancing is easy and fun, whereas dancing is usually not so easy and not always fun.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Download the song: <a title=\"Reunion Street (5.1 MB)\" href=\"jutze-reunionstreet.mp3\">mp3<\/a> (<a title=\"more music by Jutze\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jutze.com\/?page_id=13\">more music<\/a>)<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It&#8217;s a quiet night in Dickensack, Alabama<br \/>\nBut there&#8217;s a light on in Reunion Street<br \/>\nIn a wooden house a father tells his little daughter<br \/>\nDon&#8217;t cry for Mommy, hush, go to sleep<\/p>\n<p>Mommy&#8217;s out of town, she&#8217;s staying with her sister<br \/>\nShe won&#8217;t be back for at least one more day<br \/>\nNow I&#8217;m not in the mood to listen to your stories<br \/>\nI want to smoke and drink my troubles away<\/p>\n<p>So please don&#8217;t start to weep<br \/>\nJust go back to sleep<\/p>\n<p>My little darling, will you please be quiet<br \/>\nI&#8217;m sure the sandman is going to bring you sweet dreams<br \/>\nI have to go back to my beer can and my baseball<br \/>\nAnd I don&#8217;t want to be disturbed by your screams<\/p>\n<p>So please don&#8217;t start to weep<br \/>\nJust go back to sleep<br \/>\nNo, don&#8217;t start to weep<br \/>\nOr else I&#8217;m going to have to&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile in the local pub there&#8217;s a party going on<br \/>\nHarold and his good old boys have been jamming all night long<br \/>\nNot it&#8217;s getting late, but it sure was great, there&#8217;s still time for one more song<\/p>\n<p>Patrick and his girl-friend Nat are dancing on the stairs<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s their anniversary, love is in the air<br \/>\nAnd as the party ends he takes her hands and gently strokes her hair<\/p>\n<p>And then at home they dance some more<br \/>\nAnd they get rid of what they&#8217;ve worn<br \/>\nAnd just before they fall asleep he says, I love you<br \/>\nAnd just before she falls asleep she says, I love you, too<\/p>\n<p>3 am, the alarm goes off<br \/>\nFour seconds later Patrick is up<br \/>\nFive steps to the closet door<br \/>\nHey honey, please sleep on<\/p>\n<p>Six calls in as he gets to the station<br \/>\nSeven miles to drive from there<br \/>\n815 Reunion Street<br \/>\nA two-story building is on fire<\/p>\n<p>The neighbours called when they saw the fire<br \/>\nThe owner of the house had gotten drunk and passed out<br \/>\nHis burning cigarette fell down on the carpet<br \/>\nAnd soon the flames got higher and higher<\/p>\n<p>But he did not wake up<\/p>\n<p>Suddenly there&#8217;s a faint and distant whisper<br \/>\nPatrick doesn&#8217;t wait for the smoke to clear<br \/>\nUp the ladder, his axe breaks the window<br \/>\nThere in the bedroom a girl cries in fear<\/p>\n<p>He lifts her up and turns around<br \/>\nAnd soon they&#8217;re safe back on the ground<br \/>\nMeanwhile his friends struggle on<br \/>\nAnd two hours later they have won<br \/>\nThe flames are gone<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a quiet morning in Dickensack, Alabama<\/p>\n<p><em>(words and music by Johannes Schult)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is my shadow (i.e., out of competition) entry for the Masters of Song Fu #3 Final Challenge.
